Ingredients

  • 500 g Lurpak cow milk butter
  • 150 g icing sugar
  • 2 vanilla vials
  • 1250 g soft flour
  • 3 medium egg yolks
  • orange zest
  • 30 ml ouzo

For the garnish

  • icing sugar
  • flower water

Method

In a mixer’s bowl, using the whisk attachment, mix the butter, icing sugar, zest, and vanillas at medium speed.

After a few minutes, the mixture will be white and smooth.

While mixing for a minute, add the egg yolks.

Right after, remove the whisk attachment from the mixer and insert the paddle attachment.

Add the flour and ouzo and mix for about 10 minutes, until the mixture resembles sand (it will not become a stiff dough).

Finally, take a small amount of the mixture and press it into your handful to make a tight dough.
Give it the shape of a snowball cookie and place it on a baking pan lined with parchment paper.

Bake in a preheated oven at 170-180 C fan, for about 20 minutes, until golden brown.

Afterwards, while the snowball cookies are hot, place them on a plate with a thick layer of icing sugar.

When they are thoroughly cooled, sprinkle optionally with rose water and immediately after with plenty of icing sugar.
